Mohammad Ben Moussa Al-Khwarizmi is the most famous among the Uzbekistani scholars who enriched the Islamic Culture. Among his most important writings are, the first astronomical table, the second astronomical table known as the astronomical tables of Siddhanta, and a book on the use of Astrolabe. Some of his other important writings include “Algebra and Balancing”, “The Book of History” and the book “Al Rukhama” which dealt with the concept of sun dials. He helped lead a project to define the Earth’s circumference and worked on creating a map of the world upon a request from The Abbasid Caliph Al- Ma’moun where he headed 70 scholars in the process of achieving the task. He invented the first quadrant device, along with a device that measured altitude that could be used in any from any exposed diameter on earth.
